How to Use Groupride

Everything you need to know to get rolling.

Signing In

Groupride uses magic links — no passwords needed. Enter your email, check your inbox, click the link, and you're in. The link expires in 15 minutes for security.

Setting Up Your Profile

After your first sign-in, you'll create a profile with a username, optional display name, city, and your bike color. Your bike color shows as a small dot next to your name in participant lists — makes it easy to spot who's who at the trailhead.

Creating a Ride

Click "Create a Group Ride" on the front page. Fill in:

  • Name — give your ride a short, descriptive title
  • Location — where the ride starts or the trailhead name
  • Start time — when the ride kicks off
  • Club (optional) — tag your ride with a club name; it appears as a badge in ride listings
  • Description (optional) — add details about distance, difficulty, pace, etc.

Finding Rides

The front page shows upcoming rides grouped by time: in a week, in a month, and later. Use the Browse page to search by name, location, or club. Past rides from the last 7 days are also visible.

Joining a Ride

On a ride's detail page, you can mark yourself as:

  • Interested — you're considering it
  • Going — you're committed

After the ride has started, the button changes to "Went" so you can confirm you participated.

Giving Shaka 🤙

Had a great ride? Hit the shaka button to show appreciation. Shaka counts appear next to rides in all listings, and a shaka icon shows next to your name in the participant list.

Car Ride Sharing

This is the heart of Groupride. On any ride's detail page, you can:

  • Offer a ride — you have a car and free spots. Specify how many seats and your pickup location.
  • Ask for a ride — you need a lift to the trailhead.

Other participants can click "Interested" on your offer to signal they'd like to hop in. When all spots are taken, the offer closes automatically.

Editing and Deleting Rides

You can edit your own rides from the ride detail page. If you need to cancel, there's a delete option in the edit page with a safety confirmation.

Deleting Your Account

In your profile settings, you can permanently delete your account. Your rides will remain visible (shown as "Unknown user"), but all your personal activity — going/interested marks, shakas, and ride offers — will be removed.

Clubs

Tag rides with a club name to group them visually. Club badges appear in ride cards across the app. When creating a new ride, you'll get suggestions from clubs you've used before.

Your Profile

Every rider has a public profile page at /rider/username. It shows your username, bike color, city, when you joined, and your trail score — a number based on your activity (rides interested in, attended, and shakas given). Click your @username in the top bar to see yours.

Is It Free?

Yes! Groupride is free for individuals, friend groups, and local riding communities. We may introduce a small fee for corporate users in the future, but for everyday riders it's free — always.

🤙 See you on the trail!
